Your chats stay on your device.

In short: ChatStow does not transmit your data to us or to third parties. All saved chat content stays in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) on your device. There are no ChatStow servers for user data, no account, no tracking, no ads and no newsletter.

1. What data does ChatStow process?

ChatStow processes the content of your AI chats on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini (messages, titles, images) only when you actively save them: by clicking “Save chat”, or by importing an official data export file that you choose yourself. This data is stored exclusively in your browser on your device.

2. What is sent to servers?

No chat content and no personal data. The extension periodically downloads a small configuration file (selectors.json) from chatstow.app or chatstow.pages.dev. It contains technical page selectors so the extension keeps working after the AI providers change their layouts. This request carries no user data and no identifiers, and no profiles are built on the server side.

Pro license (optional). If you buy ChatStow Pro and activate a license key, the extension sends that key and a device label (browser and operating system) to our payment and licensing provider Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC, USA) to verify it. The check runs on activation and about every three days afterwards. Chat content is never included. Purchases and payments are covered by Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy. Without a Pro license, the extension never contacts Lemon Squeezy.

3. Limited Use disclosure

ChatStow's use of information received from websites is limited to the user-facing core feature: saving, organizing, searching and exporting your own AI chats locally. The data is not transferred, sold, or used for advertising or creditworthiness purposes. This complies with the Limited Use requirements of the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.

4. Storage and deletion

All data lives in your device's local browser database (IndexedDB). You can delete individual chats in the library at any time. Uninstalling the extension permanently removes all stored data.

5. Permissions

storage / unlimitedStorage: local storage of your saved chats.
Access to chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com: required to show the “Save chat” button and to read the conversation when you ask for it. ChatStow is not active on any other website.
Access to api.lemonsqueezy.com: used only to verify an optional Pro license key.
